A Guide to Motivation // Tips & Tricks

21:07

Lets face it- whether you're lazy or not, we all struggle with motivation once and a while. And, if you're anything like me, finding motivation isn't actually that hard.. it's keeping it thats the real struggle. I thought I'd share some of my tried and tested tips and tricks to help get and keep you motivated. Bare in mind that these might not all work for you so you will need to do some trial and error to find what suits you best.

1. Make a playlist
It's more than half obvious that music can have a massive influence on our mood. Choosing songs that get your excited and inspired gets you moving, singing and your blood pumping, putting you in a good frame of mind. My personal favorites are throwback songs and songs that make me feel like a total boss.

2. Create a Vision Board
This is something that I plan on doing more of an in depth post on, but it certainly isn't something I should skip in this one. Not only is it a good crafty activity, but having a vision board somewhere in sight can help keep you focused and excited about any short or long time goals. I'll be posting a more in depth post soon!

3. Tell someone
It's a lot easier to lie and convince yourself that you'll 'just do that later' than it is to convince someone else. Tell someone you know will grill you if you don't stick to your goals. Fear can be a great motivation and who knowns, you may be able to rope them into joining you in your goals!

4. Set reasonable goals
Long term goals are a great thing to have, but it's important to make a set of smaller, achievable goals to work towards achieving your bigger goal. Setting reasonable goals will reward you along the way, keep you focused, in control and will physically and mentally prepare you to be able to achieve bigger goals.

5. In the words of Shia Labeouf, Just Do It
We all make excuses, but at the end of the day nothing will get done if you don't just get up and do it. You'll end up in a bad mood, in a negative mind set and lose your motivation. It is better to try and have failed than to have never known at all.

What do you do to keep motivated?
Until next time...
